Senior Transportation Services

HHOVV offers rides to senior citizens age 60 and over.

Rides are provided with wheelchair capable vehicles and with qualified volunteers. Rides are provided for medical appointments, grocery store shopping and other errands. We also have several volunteer drivers who provide transportation in their own vehicles for seniors to and from medical appointments, shopping trips and errands. All volunteers receive orientation training and a background check.

New clients meet with an intake coordinator for an assessment and must be 60 years of age or older, show proof of Nevada residency and display a need for assistance. Individuals needing services are typically alone and frail, chronically ill, home bound, and/or dependent on a primary caregiver. Reassessments are completed on an annual basis. Services are free for low income clients. Volunteers and staff do not accept tips, gifts, loans or anything of value from clients.

Help us provide rides to senior citizens 60 and over to medical appointments and the grocery store.  Money donated to this program will be used to purchase fuel, complete maintenance on the vehicles, and pay for services for our electronic scheduling program.

Do you need assistance?

Yes, I am a senior and I need assistance

Senior Assistant On-line Shopping Program For our Current Transportation Clients (Temporary Program):  The Scheduler will call the Transportation clients who cannot or choose not to leave their homes at this time.  They will either take their shopping list and/or assist them in learning how to order groceries on-line, at the store of their choosing that falls within the 5 mile one-way limit for personal errands.  They will then work with the Dispatch office to schedule pickup of the items at the store and deliver to the client’s home with staff drivers or volunteer drivers, if available.  The clients can order up to a maximum of $50 of groceries per month, at no cost to the client.  HHOVV will be responsible for paying for the groceries and creating an invoice for the client to record the items purchased, where purchased, and when delivered.  The client may choose to make a donation to the agency at their discretion.
